Ingredients:
- 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 tsp ground ginger
- 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
- 4 eggs whisked, room temp
- 1 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup molasses
Preparation:
- Preheat oven to 350º F and grease a cake pan (bundt pans work nicely here)
- In a medium bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and spices. Set aside.
- in a large bowl, whisk the eggs.
- Add the brown sugar, melted butter, milk, and molasses until smooth.
- Slowly incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet, stirring in between each addition. The batter tends to be a little lumpy but try to incorporate all the bigger lumps.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 45-60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool for about 10 minutes and flip over.
